For those who are new to Twitter. What is Twitter? Twitter is a micro blogging application that can be used by anyone to post 140 character tweets (posts) on his account. It has become a new tool for social media branding and marketing. It is increasingly gaining popularity and companies and individuals are using it to their own needs. Twitter is being mentioned as a great start-up and being titled as a Google competitor some day. Its features are been implemented on social networks like Facebook and Myspace in the form of Live Activity Stream.

Twitter is also a great source of traffic for any website be it be a blog, e-commerce or any other website. Twitter traffic can be good if you have good number of followers. Gaining followers is also one of the challenging task if you are not a celebrity. Followers can be gained if you have good informative tweets.

There are many Twitter plugins that can be used for driving traffic to your website and blog. These plugins work in automated way and helps you to save some time of separatley going to twitter and posts your Tweets. You only have to put these plugin files on your wordpress wp-content/plugins folder, activate the plugin  provide your login credentials and you are good to go as 1,2,3…

  • Twitter Tools by Alex King – Twitter Tools is a plugin that creates a complete integration between your WordPress blog and your Twitter account. Its a great plugin that I use on Tech2view also and have many options to configure it to your needs. By this you can also have your Twitter Tweets show up in the form of posts in your blog whenever you tweet.
  • @ Reply – This plugin allows you to add Twitter-like @reply links to comments. When clicked, those links insert the author name and a link to the comment you are replying to in the textarea.
  • Twitme – This plugin allows you to automatically post your new posts on the twitter website
  • Twitpress – Echoes user definable notification of published blog entries to twitter
  • Bird Feeder – Tweets your about your posts when they are published
  • WP to Twitter – Posts a Twitter status update when you update your blog or post to your blogroll, using the Cligs URL shortening service.
  • Twitter Updater – The Twitter Updater automatically sends a Twitter status update to your Twitter account when you create, publish, or edit your WordPress post. You can specify the text for the updates, and also have the option to turn the auto update on/off for the different post actions in the admin panel.
  • Twitter updater with TinyURL – This is an updates verison of the above Twitter updater. It Updates Twitter when you create a new blog post utilizing TinyURL.com.
