Configuring Wifi and Internet in Ubuntu.

I have been personally dealing with this problem from past 1 week. But didn’t get the time to solve this because of busy schedule. Some days back I installed Ubuntu on my machine and started playing with its features. Accidentally I somehow removed the Network Manager of Ubuntu, which is the default Gnome Network App in Ubuntu. At this time I didn’t knew how to solve this problem as my internet is not working now.

I tried searching from other machine but wasn’t able to get an effective solution. I tried many commands and tutorials but all in vain. These are some of the commands I tried.

sudo /etc/init.d/networking restart – To restart network Daemons in Ubuntu and configuring the Interfaces

sudo ifdown eth0 – To stop eth0 interface

sudo ifdown wlan0 - To stop wireless Lan Interface

sudo ifup eth0 – To start eth0 interface

sudo ifup wlan0 – To start wlan0 interface

ifconfig – To check all the network configurations

sudo gedit /etc/network/interfaces – To edit the interface file in which all these interfaces are stored and configured

Originally your interface file looks like this:

auto lo
iface lo inet loopback

But the most good solutions that I found was downloading and installing WICD which is a third party free Network Management client for Linux Distributions. I downloaded the latest package from http://wicd.sourceforge.net/download.php for Ubuntu.

Wicd is an open source wired and wireless network manager for Linux which aims to provide a simple interface to connect to networks with a wide variety of settings.

Wicd is easy to use just install and configure it for your router settings and you are good to go. It is also good because you can make a connection default in this i.e. whenever a connection breaks in between it can go back to same connection, whereas in Network Manager this isn’t possible. The above commands are very useful for manual configurations especially 1,6 and 7.
If Wicd doesn’t gets activated try running the command sudo /etc/init.d/dbus restart or restart your machine for the setting to take effect.

Hi
I was out of blogging for some days,now it was some or I might call it many back-end issues and personal issues which were keeping me Busy.
So I should throw some light on what were these issues.

First,I was Attacked by some malicious robots (scripts) which traverse the web automatically to find sites which are potential targets for them.

After they find out their potential targets they just attack those sites with anything like malicious or spammy links which they hide on your site so that they are not visible to you (invisible text) or your visitors but they are definitly visible to search engines.

More Details about the type of attacks can be found out here

These spammy links provide them with the link juice of the web site which is attacked because these links are <nofollow>.
I should show you some example of what are these links like:

style=”display:none”>fioricet used for inhailing tramadol tramadol used category chemical google tramadol
and so on

These spam links may be hidden anywhere on your site mainly footers and headers and blog posts.

So why all this happened to my website???
It is due to the file permissions which were set to 775 by me due to some reasons.Not getting into the details now.

In the period of this Aftermath which started at 25th June and ended on 15th July my SERP’s in google and other search engines dropped considerably and traffic was next to null ,because google and any other search engine don’t allow such sites to rank in their results.

It was kind of a Dampening effect on me as I was giving regular updates and there was no traffic.That was another reason why I was out of blogging for a while. As I believer of the saying “Give regular updates, Get regular Traffic”.

Then I came across a post by blogger who faced the similar issues for
blog.digitalbackcountry.com which came as a relief that its not only I who is experiencing such attacks.

I removed those spam links by detecting each and every part of the scripts working for my blog and removed those link spam and installed some wordpress security plugins which automatically detects for such intrusions and resolve the same.

Second I was changing my host for Tech2view.com to better godaddy servers which was previously hosted on zz60.net servers.
Why this decision ???

The zz60 servers were contantly down for some weeks due to some DDOS attacks which they were experiencing and were unable to rectify those.

Second some of my wp scripts were not functioning correctly with the hosting of zz60.

Thanks to Sahil for supporting my initial phase of blogging.

</nofollow>

I have been posting numerous posts about facebook,orkut and myspace proxies.
Today I will tell you how these proxies work and what they do….

Proxies allow you to surf the internet with a high level of privacy, security and anonymity. When you access a website from the proxy server site, information like your browser type, location, operating system and IP address is eliminated and the proxy server website is recorded as the accessing computer instead of your computer. This helps you maintain the privacy, security and anonymity you desire, as it facilitates web browsing without your information being identified and bypasses the network filters and firewalls.

The process is very simple and convenient. You are not required to install or download any software to browse the blocked sites. All you have to do is type the desired URL on the main page and all connections and traffic to and from the destination URL is redirected via the proxy, making it look as if the traffic is evolving from the main proxy, thus bypassing the domain based URL filtering blocking system.

These proxies allow you to access any website without revealing your personal information, surf, download games and news, access online social networking websites and shopping sites, share videos, music, chat and a lot more.

The proxies allow users to browse through the blocked websites, profiles, post comments, blogs and surf the site for music. Sometimes, you may be required to use the IP address of the proxy (like http://200.10.10.12), instead of the domain name, which can be retrieved by pinging the URL from command prompt.

The number of web proxies is everyday increasing and more and more are being setup to earn revenues through advertisements. You can find many proxies for myspace ,facebook and bebo at Tech2view.com
Stay Tunes in.
Share what you like about the posts and Blog.

Here comes a very interesting series of blog posts by a no. of bloggers in and around India.

On April 1 after the conception of This Breaking News-India May Ban Facebook, Orkut and Foreign Social Networking Sites by Tech2.com a famous technology portal there was really a dash of panic among many people. At first I too was shocked about this news.

“Sites such as Orkut and Facebook allow for heavily encrypted exchanges of information”, a highly placed source at the MHA told Tech2.com. MHA officials are believed to be especially worried about the phenomenon of “scraps” and “pokes” respectively on these two sites.

This news by Tech2 has and is spreading like fire among Orkut and other social networking sites users and fans .

Many blogs are considering this news as serious and writing very serious tone posts about this subject “Orkut and Facebook banned in India”. I would like to correct these blogs as this is a personal attempt by Tech2 on April1 to make people (facebook and orkut users) fool.

Many famous Blog Sites such as <a href="http://initialm.wordpress.com/2008/04/01/tech2-exclusive-india-may-ban-facebook-orkut-and-foreign-social-networking-sites/ rel="nofollow">initialm, OrkutPlus and many more sites are writing redundant blog posts without even considering to read full post by tech2 till the end, at the bottom Tech2 has cleaarly tagged this news with April Fools Day 2008.

Now nothing left to say about such bloggers who are always at jump to write of such news about social networking sites on their blogs.

As I mentioned out year 2008 will see
emergence of great social networks and networking technologies
of all time.

One such example of social networking technology is mobile social networking which is evolving at break neck speed.

Social Networks are adopting this feature into their mainstream applications and synchronizing with the wireless carriers globally to expand their reach.These social networks like facebook,myspace,dodgeball,snockles,etc. are also creating opportunities for their users to communicate on their mobiles and earn for generating content.

One such mobile network I will discuss here is Cellware.com.It is a service that adds a new twist to the mobile social networks. Like Nokia’s MOSH, Cellware.com allows users to share mobile content, but also adds a benefit to the content creators allowing them to actually make some money along the way. In addition, they’re providing their members with “fun and easy to use” tools to help them make mobile content, and again, monetize it

Cellware is a Mobile Social Network site with the largest selection of content for your phone on the net. Joining this community is totally FREE. You can keep in touch with your friends and send them the latest ringtones, videos, images, games and applications for FREE. Best of all, you can create your media using the cutting edge tools that they offer within their site. Share your creations with friends or share them with the world and earn cash.
Currently this mobile social network is supported by only these wireless carriers that too in US:
* Cingular
* Verizon
* Sprint
* Tmobile
* Nextel
* Alltel
* US Cellular
* Cellular One
For more information about this mobile social network refer to Faq’s
