Gaming leading social networking and video streaming in popularity race.

It was an absolute shock for me after hearing this recent survey details,in this survey it is found that more Americans play online games than use video sharing and social networking sites, according to a survey done by Parks and Associates Research Group.

The gamers are not just playing hardcore, fantasy or role-playing games like “World of Warcraft” or shooters like Halo 3, but they are also going for Bejeweled, Diner Dash, Cake Mania and other fun PC games.

Of the total surveyed 34% say they play online games,
29% watch short videos and,
19% visit social networking sites with the same frequency.

Despite the growing popularity of YouTube, MySpace and Facebook, gaming remains the king of online entertainment, driven largely by casual gaming activities, says James Kuai, a research analyst at Parks and Associates.

Good news for facebook users, now u can track who visited your profile with
Trakzor Facebook Tracker application.

tracker_logo.gif

Trakzor is very popular MySpace tracker which now want to step in to Facebook. But facebook users can’t receive the same functionality like using Trakzor in MySpace because Facebook is much a secure platform and many users like that personal information is much better protected. But for very curious people Trakzor can give some possibilities and information about profile viewers.

The biggest difference from MySpace trackzor tracker is that you need to have Trakzor account not to only see stats but to be traced. It means that you can’t be traced viewing other people profiles until you log-in into Trakzor.

facebook emerging as Most popular Social Network

This is really going to be amazing competition between London and Canada in terms of their population using facebook. In the previous months toronto, canada has surpassed London in terms of its population using facebook.
Over 1 million Londoners (the blue line) had joined the London network by the end of August.

Whether it is an international competition or mere coincidence, this is very much overjoyed. Facebook is so excited, that they are going to open an office in London as thanks to their dedicated users. Facebook also want to support the growing demand for advertising on the site by UK advertisers.

The UK is also growing on a national scale; in terms of unique users, it’s currently the third biggest country on Facebook (coming in just behind Canada) and it is the fastest growing international market. The UK also contributed over 5.5 billion page views in the month of August, which means everyone out there saw an average of 1,100 Facebook pages.

Facebook saw approximately 5 million UK users (blue) last month, and it’s catching up to Canada (yellow). Keep an eye out for Australia (pink), the dark horse contender.I firmly beleive that in coming days facebook is going to be the Most popular social network in India and abroad.

What if Facebook had some other name ?

welcome_3.gif

Facebook is the hottest Social Networking medium on the Internet right now, and is showing no signs of slowing down. But imagine if Facebook was known by some other ****** name ? It may be silly to think that a name would have such a significant impact on the success of a venture, but this is one situation in which it probably does.

Back when Zuckerberg started Facebook, it was called TheFacebook and was a hobby website to connect students at Harvard University. The name Facebook.com had already been registered in 1997, so Zuckerberg registered the name, TheFacebook.com in 2004.

Within two months of its launch, it continued to grow rapidly, reaching almost every single college in the US. Then in 2005, TheFacebook buys the name Facebook.com and is officially called Facebook after that. Restricting accounts to only those with a email addresses from a school, Zuckerberg clearly was focused on connecting students.

Yahoo launches itself in Social Networking through Mash

Yahoo has recently launched its Social network Mash.

Yahoo’s mash has a clean look and has a great role of ajax in its making. You can make changes to your profile to your feel ,There’s a surprise u can even change the CSS(Cascade Style Sheets)(used to add styles to your pages) according to your wish.

It has a Tagging feature which allows u to add your and your friends interests in the form of the tags.
You can see the updates from your friends Profiles also as in ORKUT and FACEBOOK

Modules are little applications that can be added to your profile page (something similar to applications on Facebook). Currently, there are a few modules available, like for example, RSS feeds, etc.

The module gallery lists all the modules that can be added to your page, categorically. Modules can be added by your friends to your page. By default, there are two modules added to your page: the Mash Pet with which you can play around, and the Blurt module that you can use to announce something to your friends. Expect to see loads of fun modules in the near future, as they open up the network to third party developers.
That means it has every possible feature that a good Social Network should have.

But the main deterrent factor of this Yahoo’s Social Network as of now is its invitee system i.e u can only join if u r invited by other people.
