WordPress 2.9 Available for Download

WordPress 2.9 is now available for download. It was launched on 18th December. It is named as “Carmen”. You can either upgrade you wordpress to this version or you can download it from WordPress 2.9 download and install it. I am pretty late at telling Tech2view.com readers about this download, but better late then never. It also my first post for 2010.

Some of the main features that it is equipped with:

  1. Inbuilt Image Editing – This version of wordpress has introduced the wordpress inbuild image editing tool with capabilities like cropping, scaling and rotating.
  2. Global undo/”trash” feature –  It helps you pull back those deleted posts and pages.
  3. Batch plugin update and compatibility checking – As the name suggests it will update each and every outdated plugin you have added to your self hosted wordpress blog. It will also check for backward and forward compatibility checks while updating plugin, saving you time for writing blog posts.
  4. Easier video embeds – It allows you to embed videos easily onto your blog posts, you now only have to copy/paste video link. no need of embed code. It currently supports video sharing sites like YouTube, Daily Motion, Blip.tv, Flickr, Hulu, Viddler, Qik, Revision3, Scribd, Google Video, Photobucket, PollDaddy, and WordPress.tv . Google Dashboard : Manage your active Google services and products

Google has recently launched a very useful web service called Google Dashboard. It allows you to manage all your active google products like gmail, web search history, google analytics, calender, contacts, alerts, google docs, picassa albums, youtube videos watched and many more with a simple dashboard. It allows you to manage, edit and create your settings for the google services you are using. You have to click on the particular product to take you to the specific products settings page.

Google Phone (Nexus One) – Some Facts and Unboxing Photos

After all that hype that the Official Google phone aka Nexus One is making I am really excited to try it. The pre-release hype that this phone has made is just great. Only few of the companies beside apple know how to make this kind of publicity for their products. Google Phone as they say it is told to be launched in early January okk… some claim it 5th January.

  • It will be an HTC device more like HTC Passion.
  • It will have Android 2.1
  • It will have 1GHz processing power (more on specifications in my next post)
  • The most important part as they (people) claim that it will be an unlocked phone i.e. it can run on any operator settings and GSM networks.
  • They also claim that it will first be first given on Invite basis, where the criteria of Invitees selection noone knows but Google.
  • It will cost 199$ in US (according to sources)

Last month there was a very much hype about the Google Wave as google started giving invitees to selected users starting September 31. It started by giving 1 millions invitees. Unfortunately I was not the one to get one of those. :( neither I had applied for the invitee. But last month due to hype and my friends talking about it and exchanging invitees, me got somewhat interested in it. So I applied for it from the google Wave applications form. After a week or so I got it with 20 invitee as giveaways. Coool. :)

Now I started doing experiments and playing with it. One of them is How to Integrate your Twitter with Google Wave.
